Specification Overview

Explanation of demographics

This product is aimed towards an audience from 16 to 24 years old. To ensure that this suits the audience, I will use More bass music. I will also include some fast-paced scenes so that the audience can be engaged. The advantage of making this product to this audience is that I can include some scenes which show a lot of actions. This would be beneficial as this would engage the audience. The challenge that I may foresee while making this product is making sure that I have the right elements, such as music, as this is one of the main conventions which helps the scenes to intensify.

Conventions

I will have a close-up of representatives to connote dominance. I will include dark music towards the end to present the title sequence. I will make use of low angles on the antagonist to connote their sense of power. In order to get the thriller mood, this will be set at night time. There will be some slow camera movements. I may include an establishing shot to the area as a way to present to the audience where the film is going to be set. However, as this is for an opening sequence, the establishing shot won't take up all of the duration of the sequence. As for the characters, I may have them speak in. a sinister voice to connote tension in the sequence.

Industry Requirements

This thriller opening is for a festival next year. The screen action, horror, and sci-fi movies searching for cult classics like those you discovered as a kid on some random Saturday afternoon hanging with your friends at the theatre. The advantage of this is that the audience is mostly young, which would be a great way to reach the target audience for this product. The regulatory board would be BBFC. They regulate films. I must ensure that the content is appropriate for the audience.

Medium

The medium that I am working in is film. I am creating a 2-minute opening sequence of a thriller movie. The genre that this fits into is a thriller.
