Technical convention B - mood board

Typical thriller shots   The convention is camera shot types. There is a close-up, which is shown in this clip, of the main character, who is also the protagonist at 00:37. This would give an idea of how powerful the protagonist is. Also, the audience would get the idea that he is smart and that he will be able to win over the antagonist at some point in the film. Also, this would presents the type of way the family lives. This would give the audience the idea that the family is portrayed as a. middle class family. Thriller editing sequence The convention is for editing. The pace is shown to be increasing during an altercation in the car at 1:22. This increases the tension and gives the idea that something big will occur. This is for transitions. Lots of cuts are used in the scene, which is mainly shown at 2:39. This would be to increase

Camera Shot types -There are lost of establishing shots, which is to make the location a character in the narrative. -Close ups are used to make characters dominant such as the protagonist and antagonist.  Angles -Low angle is used to portray the antagonist dominance towards other characters. Movement -There are a lot of movements in thriller films, which can often be seen to be slow at times. Also, there would be movements to follow the characters Editing Pace -When it comes to pace, it can sometimes vary. However, in a thriller, the pace would be slow and deliberate. The pace increases during rapid thrill moments. American psycho American psycho is a 2000 comedy psychological crime film. It is about a wealthy investment banker named Patrick Bateman who hides his ego, which turns out to be psychopathic, from his friends and later, his illogical fantasies escalate, which causes him to have an uncontrollable bloodlust. This would fit into the category for a psychological thriller as the film focuses on an angle from someone mentally. This would be conveyed in the trailer in which the main character is seen to be doing things, such as chopping someone, who licks identical to him and having their blood splatter on himself, which would make the audience question his mental health. Also, the character is sometimes seen to be distressed or to be having some sort of breakdown, which is shown in the trailer where he is covered in blood, shirtless, screaming, facing down to the bottom of the stairs. This would present the idea that the character portrays different moods in the thriller. There are even time
